My name is Sophia Elder, and I’m a young female archer (15 years old) who would like to shoot as a promotional staff member for your company in the Yellowknife, Northwest Territories area for the next several years.
I have provided a copy of my resume for your consideration. In addition to my resume, I would like to take the opportunity to tell you a bit about myself.
I started the sport of archery in 2019 at the age of 10. In my first year as a Barebow I placed third Nationally in my first ever competition and set a Provincial Record. Then Covid hit just after the start of 2020 stopping all competitions which was a setback across all sports. Over this time, I worked hard on my shot process, understanding my equipment, and practicing at a minimum 3-4 days a week. Since then, I have achieved Gold in several National, Provincial, and Territorial competitions. I also have achieved 13 National Records, 9 Provincial Records, and 2 Territorial Records
The reason I am asking to be a sponsored athlete for your business is because I have a goal to represent Canada and the NWT in Dakar, Senegal for the 2026 Youth Olympics. To achieve this, I must train with high performance coaches in Archery, Strength and Conditioning, and Mental Performance. Some of this can be online but many times I must travel to Ontario to meet with my coach for form and technical analysis. I am required to attend leadup qualifying tournaments. which include tryouts and hopefully selection. Just for tournaments alone I for the Youth World Championships this year in 2025. This year I travel to Arizona, Florida, Alberta x 2 , Ontario, and several local tournaments in Yellowknife. These scores contribute to my National and World Rankings.
The equipment I use is very expensive and requires constant upgrades and changes to be competitive. Along with Coaching Fees, Facility Fees, Memberships, Tournament Fees, there is the logistics of Flights, Bags, Hotel, Vehicle, and other incidental costs. Grant access from the NWT can help offset a small amount of these costs but does not by any means help with any significants.
One last note that I feel I should share, is that I hold a great sense of pride in representing the NWT and would be so proud to represent different organizations within the Northwest Territories community. Please know that I would be a great asset to promoting your organization. I enjoy promoting the sport of Archery and I would be very proud to represent your company.
